S+arck Negative Stainless Steel Watch Black Reviews
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Most unique and commented upon watch I own, April 20, 2006 By I purchased my first version of this watch in Europe 5 years ago, and am now ordering the stainless version as well. In a nutshell, I LOVE this watch. With it's negative display and black band, it gets more comments than any other watch I own, and is certainly nowhere close to the most expensive one. I wear this thing almost every day, so it IS durable. For the folks that think it's hard to set, just take it off, and on the back of the watch is a legend of how to operate the watch... If all of them would just do that. Batteries last about 2 years.

That was more than two years ago and one battery change. In terms of balance between aesthetics and function is the best of that line, which doesn't mean that's perfect. After a little struggling with the manual I managed to figure out how to set it. The problem is that you can forget the procedure quite easily, specially when you travel and have to adjust to different time zones. The worst problem although is not a functional one but a material quality one. After more than two years of use, the rubber wristband ( I believe made out of thermoplastic urethane) started to develop cracks and is falling apart where it gets thinner, close to the steel buckle. Now the strap has completely destroyed, and the worst thing is that is impossible to change because the way it's connected to the bezel. That is sad considering Monsieur Starck's discourse on sustainability. In just three years this watch has fell apart, it's impossible to disassemble... Read more
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Userfriendliness questionable, April 27, 2007 By MTLA (Los Angeles CA) - See all my reviews As a designer myself, I appreciate the watch for its look, but I can't believe how impossible it is to operate. It is a shame for a designer like Starck to create such an impossible object to use. I have a clock by Starck and it is similarly impossible to figure out.
Good thing that the Fossil website also has all the manuals online... under their HELP section.
